Who is Leslie Burke from Bridge to Terabithia?

Nine-year-old, Leslie Burke, is Jesse's best friend. She is an only child and attends the same elementary school as Jesse. As an only child, Leslie never has to worry about garnering her parents' attention. Leslie is, however, occassionally overcome by boredom in the country and often lonely. Lark Creek is far different than the city of Arlington.
