Who is Brian's Mother from Brian's Winter?

The novel takes place after Brian's parent's divorce, as Brian boards a plane to go spend time with his father. Over the course of the novel, Brian spends a lot of time thinking of his parents, but he also dwells on the reason he must spend time with the separately.... his mother's secret, an affair with another man.
