Vonnegut's tone is blunt and direct in the novel, Bluebeard.

Bluebeard

The theme of this story is about love, trust, and betrayal. At first the woman can't love Blue Beard because of his appearance, but money and manners win her over. Blue Beard's infatuation is based completely on appearance as well, but appearances can be deceiving.
