Who is First Lieutenant Archie BIggers from Bloods: An Oral History of the Vietnam War by Black Veterans and what is their importance?

Archie is nicknamed Joe. Joe thinks that the Vietnamese are crazy. They will walk through minefields, strap bombs to babies, and tie themselves to trees knowing they will die. Joe thinks the United States could have won the war if the soldiers would have been allowed to fight instead of constantly changing orders and commanders. Joe also refuses to accept that the color of his skin caused things to go wrong. He does not agree that blacks are owed anything because their ancestors were slaves.
