The abilities Shuri gained while in The Djalia are symbolic of her complete enlightenment to the history of Wakanda. While in The Djalia, The Griot told her stories of ancient Wakandans and the strength their lessons can provide in the present. These stories included a woman who could turn into birds and demonstrated patience to escape the man who enslaved her. Shuri gained this same ability and clearly uses patience and avoiding reactive decisions as a tool to help defeat The People. Another story was about the daughter of a Chieftain who refused to surrender to oncoming invaders and turned her skin to stone to defend her village. Shuri also gains this ability and shows strong perseverance in the face of The People, which is especially needed as T'Challa begins to lose hope in achieving victory.
