Who is Dixie Lee Pugh from Black Cherry Blues and what is their importance?

Dixie Lee Pugh is one of David's former college classmates. He left college to become a rock star, a dream that merely led him to a drug and alcohol addiction. After being involved in a car accident that led to a young boy's death, Dixie was convicted of manslaughter and sent to prison. When he is released from prison, Dixie goes to work for an oil company, hears a conversation he shouldn't hear, and in turn, becomes afraid for his life. Dixie calls on Dave for assistance.
