Walker uses some language to foreshadow the way in which some people will turn out to be something other than what they appear. One example of this can be founf when Walker talks at length about a friend who poses for a photographer, causing Walker to envy her friend's seemingly glamorous lifestyle. Later, though, Walker learns that the girl is subject to illegal activities, including molestation and sexual exploitation.
