[William] Temple Franklin from Benjamin Franklin: An American Life is the illegitimate son of Franklin's son, William. Temple, as he was called, was placed with a foster family in London for a while, but then when Ben returned to London he goes to live with him, coming back with him to America. Temple becomes something of a pawn during the Revolutionary War between Ben and Temple's father William. Later, after Ben's death, Temple attempts to publish his grandfather's papers, but does a poor job of it.
