Churches symbolize the common faith of the people. The Catholic faith has a strong influence on the Italian people at this time. The cathedral in the center of Milan, the Basilica di Santa Maria Nascente, is an important landmark for both the citizens and for Pino, who when near it knows that he is close to home.
