Chapter 26

In chapter 26, we see that the community begins to come together to help Sethe despite the way they have treated her in the past. Why do you think they chose to do this? Why is community support so important? Consider society in general and your life specifically. When are times when community support is most important?

When Denver asks Lady Jones for help, food or a job, and Lady Jones responds by giving Denver a bag of food to take home, she sets an example. Lady Jones' generosity sets an example for the rest of the community, she is a leader, and she is someone that other people look up to. It's a shame that it takes this kind of act to awaken a community, but at least it happened.
