Who is Amos Leemaster in Belle Prater's Boy by Ruth White?

Amos Leemaster was the owner of the local hardware store, and Gypsy's deceased father. Amos was a good and caring man, who loved his family. After being injured in a fire, Amos was disfigured and went into a deep depression because of his appearance. He took his own life by shooting himself in the head. His body was discovered by his daughter, Gypsy.
