Carrie is a thirteen-year-old girl who becomes the new Robin. She is walking home one night with her friend when they are attacked by the Mutants in Gotham. Batman comes to her rescue and she makes up her mind to join forces with Batman and help him in his crusade. Although she has a family at home with two parents, they do not seem to pay that much attention to her, nor do they realize how often she is gone. It is possible that she also sees Batman as the father figure or authority figure that she really wants in her life.

She is young, but very able and determined in her work with Batman. Seemingly unaware of the history that has involved past Robins, she does not approach the work with a great deal of fear. Incidentally, her sense of timing is what initially draws Batman to her and why he keeps her around; she shows up at just the moment he seems to need her the most. Carrie, although not the strongest student when it comes to her school studies, does know enough about computers to impress Batman. She is able to maneuver a helicopter, much to his surprise, because she knows how to work the computer. He is quick to trust her, and at the very end, relies on her heavily to pull off his elaborate scheme against Superman. He continues to take her under his wing and train her.

“Carrie. She’s perfect. She’s young. She’s smart. She’s brave. With her, I might be able to end this mutant nonsense once and for all.”
