Who is Mrs. Esther Easterling from Bag of Bones and what is their importance?

Esther is a tobacco widow. She is an elderly woman who pulled out in front of the Public Works dump truck driven by William Fraker, leaving him no where to go. She suffers three broken ribs and a dislocated hip as a result.
