Max Devore from Bag of Bones is the epitomy of old money and the corruption that often goes with it. He has two children (and has had two wives). One child is in a mental institution and the other, his son, lives with his life partner. Max comes back to his hometown when he learns of Kyra's existence. He thinks that his money will buy her from Mattie, but when she refuses he launches an all out legal battle. Max rides around in a high tech sidecar and looks as if he's dead already.
