Friendship is another theme in the book. The A-List series distinguishes itself from similar young adult series by its focus on friendship. Though the characters are rich and glamorous, they rarely stab each other in the back or act in a catty way. When there are tensions, they are apparent to all, and usually have some rationale behind them, such as the tension that exists between Anna and Cammie.
