In Chapter Two, the reader will notice that Rumon is accused of being a spy sent by Archbishop Dunstan to spy on Father Poldu and 'disturb' them. His leanings to the church were so evident even then, it is easy to see the path he would take. It is almost a foretelling of events to come.
