Swami Kebalanda from Autobiography of a Yogi was written when the Swami was very old. He was born in 1893 to parents living in India, where he knew from an early age that he wanted to learn the deeper ways of meditation and the nature of life. He studied with Yukteswar who was instrumental in focusing his abilities and encouraging him to continue with his university studies, even when he didn't want to. When he became a monk he realized that his mission was to bring Kriya Yoga to the West and to help the people of the West to also reach enlightenment. He moved to California and started two schools. They are still there today.
