Sri Yukteswar's importance in Paramahansa's life cannot be overstated. A disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya only later in his life, Yukteswar lived a normal householder's life as a family man and engineer, until he was transferred to an area near the Himalayas at the age of 33. He was summoned by Lahiri Mahasaya, and joined him in his cave where he remembered his former life of living there, meditating and practicing kriya yoga.
