What type of animal did the group see when they crossed some stream in their journey?

The band was crossing some streams when suddenly Fitz saw a dragon in the path ahead of them. The band slipped by, only to see another dragon sleeping nearby. Everyone believed these were not real, but rather stone carvings. Fitz knew better as his Wit-sense told him they were real, but in a deep sleep.
