Anne, when they first move into the hiding space, is joyful, full of life and energy. She into everyone's business and always asking questions. For the Van Daans with their carefully controlled lives, and abusive behavior toward Peter, Anne's behavior seems unseemly. They accuse Mrs. Frank of not raising her correctly and accuse Mr. Frank of spoiling her. They are not as other adults would be, one has to think, as their lifestyle was not typical for most living during that time.
