When Anne begins her diary, she is a bright-eyed thirteen year old. She like boys, loves school, and loves, spending time with her friends. Upon their arrival at the annex, she is hopeful, and optimistic. Anne matures very quickly in part because of the stresses she is under. She has to cope with living in an enclosed space with so many people. She must resign herself to the idea that they could be discovered and put to death. I think these factors force Anne to be more mature than the average young adolescent.
