Should boxer feel bad about killing the stable-lad? Or should he be proud?

In cases of war, soldiers often feel guilt for taking the lives of others. Boxer wouldn't have been any different..... he was fighting for a cause, but from everything we can infer from the text, Boxer had a conscience.
