In the Christie novle, And Then There Were None, Vera and Emily are talking about why they might be targets. Emily talks about sending away a pregnant servant who later killed herself, but she is completely unrepentant and is not sorry. Vera becomes upset because she not only fears that they are being targeted, but she realizes that Emily is a terrible person.
