Describe symbolism in An Astrologer's Day by R. K. Narayan

The duality of light and dark are highly symbolic. When there is light, the astrologer hides his past, as well as his lack of any real expertise in the field of astrology. Thus, light is associated with the inability to "see." By the same token, when there is no light.... the truth begins to unfold and both the astrologer and his client "see" aspects of themselves that had remained concealed. The astrologer realizes that he is no longer a fugitive and that he has paid for his sins.
