This novel is told from the point of view of two-first person narrators, Jess and Shields. This dual point of view works well for the novel since it allows both Jess and Shields to share their personal thoughts and emotions about what is happening in the novel. It is important to know what is happening in both Jess and Shields mind since there is so little action in the novel. The majority of the action comes through the mental parrying between Shields and Jess.
