What is the theme in Among the Brave by Margaret Peterson Haddix?

One of the novel's main themes is courage and perseverance. In the character of Trey, we see both of these traits, as he fights against the government to save his friends from certain death. As a third, Trey understands his own status, as well as the status of those who share it.
