I can't do this assignment for you but I can give you some general ideas. James Hurst foreshadows much of the sttory in his details. Consider the tired and weary bird which lands on the tree in the yard . The bird might foreshadow Doodle's fate as well. At another point the author writes, "the last graveyard flowers were blooming, and their smell drifted [through] our house, speaking softly the names of our dead." This passage clearly foreshadows Doodle's death.
