who is the protagonist in the story Always Running

In Always Running, the main protagonist is Luis, but his nickname is Chin. He's very good at writing and painting and is very creative, but he's not in an environment that supports that sort of thing. He hates school and his teachers don't seem to like him. He joins a gang and becomes involved in some very bad activities. When he gets another shot at an education he finally finds someone who recognizes his talent and encourages it. He begins to emerge as a role model and leader for others. He starts to make positive changes in his community and decides to leave the gangs for good.
