Duncan from Almost Heaven is Ian's uncle and is a vicar in Scotland. Duncan is a kind man and of all of the people surrounding Ian understands him better than most. He fills in Elizabeth on much of his background and psychology. He is more like a mentor and father figure to Ian than anything else.
