The perspective of the author is that of a woman. She is a contemporary lady. The work was published in 1955. She was a married woman at the time the work was published. She acknowledges the help of her husband during this time. He was actually supportive of her effort in contrast to the fear that he might not want really want her to succeed. She is an American. By the time this work comes out she is an established writer and author.
