What does Bar-spreader represent?

A bar-spreader symbolizes not only manipulation, but bad intent. The bar-spreader is smuggled to Alcatraz in Natalie’s suitcase at 105’s behest. It is intended that Seven Fingers will be the one to collect the tool for use in an escape attempt. Natalie is coached by 105 as to what to do with the spreader.
