The novel is written as though it is a journal written by Moose Flanagan, the main character of the novel. The point of view of this novel works well with the structure of the novel. While the first person point of view can often restrict the reader's understanding of the plot, this novel is structured in such a way that the reader learns all they need to know from Moose's careful observations.
