Who is Kevin McMann from After the First Death and what is their importance?

Kevin is one of the children riding on the hijacked bus. When Artkin gives the children candy laced with a drug meant to sedate them, Kevin subsequently dies. Rather than killing Kate, the hijackers use Kevin's body as proof to the seriousness of their demands.
