The narrator decides to make his hike beginning in the month of March, and the journey will begin at Amicalola Falls. To prepare, he meets with Dave Mengle, an expert on the trail itself, and he also spends a small fortune on equipment.... packs, sleeping bags, cook sets, boots, tents, and thermal clothing.
