Bryson describes the trail maps as useless (pg. 73), and then he goes onto state that AT maps are confusing and lack in detail (pg. 74). AP maps lack identification and leave out the details regarding valleys, lakes, gaps, and creeks.... all important to the hiker. In context, the maps are useless.... especially within the setting. The hikers are wandering through a snowstorm without landmarks or road markers.
