Who is Aziza from A Thousand Splendid Suns and what is their importance?

Aziza is Laila and Tariq's daughter. When times are hard in Kabul, Laila leaves Aziza in an orphanage, but after Tariq's return, she retrieves her, and they flee to Pakistan together before returning to Kabul.
