Rosa Parks was the young seamstress, who boarded the Cleveland Avenue bus, heading home after a long day of work. She sat down at the beginning of the section reserved for Negro riders, but as the bus filled, a white man demanded that she give up her seat and stand for the rest of the trip. She refused, and she was arrested.
