Tywin Lannister from A Storm of Swords is the father of Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion. He is the Hand to his grandson Joffrey. After Joffrey's murder and Tyrion's shambles of a trial, Jaime steals into the dungeons and frees Tyrion, telling him to run. Instead, Tyrion goes into his father's chambers via a secret panel and finds his girlfriend, Shae in his father's bed. He strangles her, then finds his father in the privy. He kills his father with a crossbow, then escapes the castle.
