The Others from A Storm of Swords are undead beings. They have not been seen for thousands of years, but now they are awake. Once before they attacked the places of mankind and they were driven into the wild and man built a huge impenetrable fortress called The Wall. When the Others attack the Night's Watch at the Fists of the First Men, Sam is able to kill one of them using Dragonglass (obsidian) daggers.
