Why did Joy leave the car she hired, and why did the Uber driver come after her?

The Uber drive had photos of his kids on the dashboard. The driver kept asking her questions, and Joy decided that she needed to be alone. She asked the Uber driver to stop so she could walk the rest of the way. After the driver dropped her off, he followed her and held up a blue blanket that he said that she left in the car.
