The town in A Rose for Emily, view Emily, her home, and her outlandish, eccentric ways with a type of quaint acceptance. She is the town icon, monument, as well as accepted nut. They have quietly accepted her and her father's ways throughout the years and those who come into and out of power simply pass along the tradition of dealing with them.
