I'm referencing the 1961 movie version since you did not specify which version movie you wished to compare/contrast. One of the biggest differences is that the play (book) takes place almost exclusively in the Younger's living room. Whereas the movie had the advantage of being able to use settings and sets and varied scenes. There was Walter and Ruth's bedroom, and it showed Walter at work. On the other hand, the fact that the book had the activity taking place inside the living room, in that cramped apartment, it became a symbol of their confinement and restrictive life. It says: “weariness has, in fact, won in this room” (pg.23)

Both the movie and the book completely convey the characters and their internal drives and motivations. Some of the names of places are changed between the movie and the book. For example, the bar where Walter goes is called the Green Hat, but in the movie it is called the Kitty Cat. Also, the movie shows Mama giving Walter the 6500$ in the bar, when in the book, that took place at the apartment.
