What reasons do the guests give for visiting Little Paddocks in the novel, A Murder Is Announced?

The guests all pretend to drop by for frivolous reasons, rather then the announcement in the newspaper. Mrs. Harmon is the only one of the guests to bluntly ask if the murder had occurred yet.
