How has Mia's view of her synesthesia changed from the beginning of the story to Chapter 9?

In Chapter Nine, we see that Mia has found a sense of acceptance in socializing and discussing her condition with others who have synesthesia. Being able to talk about her condition and compare symptoms with other who understand her helps Mia.
