According to Vonnegut, fossil fuels are the most destructive drug of all. He notes that the behavior of governments, businesses, and individuals in regards to the use of fossil fuels is comparable to an addiction to a drug in that logic and evidence are ignored in favor of continuing a destruction dependence that will eventually result in death.
