The story is presented from an omniscient perspective, which is the only option available considering the vast cast of characters and the fact that action occurs in several places. This means that the reader has access to various perspectives which is necessary for full understanding. An example of this is seen when Jimmy Diem's crew goes aboard the ship named "Treasure." Their goal is to rescue members of their own race whom they have been lead to believe are just being held captive. However, when Diem arrives, they find the people are all dead.
