What is the theme in A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess?

One major theme in the novel, A Clockwork Orange, is that of human nature..... specifically the necessity of evil in human nature. Over the course of the novel, the author alludes that people have both good and evil in their natures, and that it is learning to control evil impulses that is important rather than removing them.
