Daenerys Targaryen from A Clash of Kings is the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. She is the last known survivor of her family whose claim to fame was that they were dragon lords/ladies. She successfully hatches three dragons and intends to grow an army large enough to take back her throne in Kings Landing. Jorah Mormont, Barristan are both attempting to help her make this happen. In this novel she is in Quarth attempting to set slaves free and to manage to keep her restless Dothraki soliders pacified.
