What is the theme in A Circle in the Fire by Flannery O'Connor?

One of the main themes in the story is that of authority, specifically, having authority and knowing how to implement that authority. Mrs. Cope is the owner of the farm, thus, she has the authority to run her farm. Unfortunately, Mrs. Cope doesn't understand her role, something that sparks resentment.
