At first the relationship between Scooge and Bob Cratchitt is oppressive. Scrooge does not treat him kindly, freezes him in the winter, roasts him in the summer, barely gives him time off for Christmas, and generally speaking does not pay him for all the trouble the man gives him. At the end, though, Scrooge becomes just the opposite becoming like a second father to Tiny Tim and helping the family.
